Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA) builds and repairs homes in partnership with hardworking, low income families and individuals. We offer a hand up, not a hand out, providing a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to build a long-term investment for the future. Get directions to stores, learn how to donate items and volunteer here. Country musicsuperstars Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood will be here to lead volunteer crews in the Meadowsat Plato Price, a 39-home raw land development off of Wilkinson Boulevard in west Charlotte. If you have a flexible schedule and are willing to be contacted last-minute about critical construction volunteer needs, sign up for Go-To-Crew.

Habitat works toward this vision by building and improving homes in partnership with individuals and families in need of a decent and affordable place to live. All donations will need to be brought outside (easily accessible from driveway, porch, garage, or curbside) just prior to the your scheduled pickup time. No assistance loading the items into the truck will be required. Habitat’s ambitious goal of raising $40 million will underwrite a historic level ofaffordable housing production. As a result, scores of new families will realize the dream ofhomeownership and the prospect of becoming free from the bonds of generational poverty. Families and individuals in need of decent, affordable housing apply for homeownership with their local Habitat for Humanity.

Are Habitat ReStores open to the public?

Since launching the Cars for Homes national vehicle donation program in 2005, Habitat for Humanity has accepted over 100,000 vehicles for reselling or recycling, raising more than $30 million in the last 5 years alone. The program has raised funds for Habitat Charlotte Region to partner with local families to build safe, stable, and affordable homes. We make it fast and easy to donate a vehicle, and you may qualify for a tax deduction.

We can also provide you with a hard copy receipt upon request. Legally, Habitat cannot appraise your donation(s), so all donors must fill out an estimated value for their donation(s) on the receipt. Please keep in mind that you are required by law to fill out IRS Form 8283 for any donation you value at $500 or more. Any donation with a total value of $5,000 or more must also be professionally appraised. Partner Families are partners with us throughout the whole process from contributing sweat equity hours helping to build their home to making their monthly mortgage payment. Housing costs in Charlotte have outpaced wage growth, making it challenging for many working individuals and families to find affordable places to live.
